Chinese sports equipment manufacturer positions itself as turnkey supplier for youth obstacle competitions amid global rollout of the new pentathlon discipline
TourGo, a professional manufacturer of sports obstacle equipment, is producing official UIPM-compliant obstacle courses configured specifically for the U15, U17 and U19 age categories, according to a company statement released this week.
The move comes as obstacle racing continues its integration into modern pentathlon worldwide, following UIPM’s 2022 decision to replace riding with obstacle racing, with full implementation after the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Under International Modern Pentathlon Union (UIPM) rules, all U15, U17 and U19 competitions have been organized with the obstacle discipline since 2023, with full implementation across senior categories concluding in 2025.
Built to UIPM Standards
TourGo manufactures its eight-obstacle course in strict accordance with UIPM Competition Guidelines – Section 3.9.3 for Category “A,” “B” and “C” events. The company states that all components meet the dimensions, materials and safety parameters specified in the UIPM Obstacle Catalogue for youth competitions.
The standard UIPM course for U15, U17 and U19 events consists of eight obstacles spread across a 60 to 70-meter distance, with athletes competing in two lanes. UIPM fixes six of the eight obstacles for consistency across all events during the season, while local organizing committees select the remaining two from approved options.
Among the obstacles in TourGo’s youth course are the Steps, Big Wheel, 1.5m Wall, Rings, Balance Beam, Wheels, Monkey Bars and Giant Steps. Certain obstacle heights vary by age group: for Rings, Wheels and Monkey Bars, the lowest hanging elements are set at 240 cm (±10 cm) for U15 and U17 athletes, and 260 cm (±10 cm) for U19 competitors.
Turnkey Delivery for Event Organizers
TourGo emphasizes a complete solution model, covering manufacturing, logistics and on-site setup. The company describes its youth-focused design as featuring age-appropriate obstacle heights, spacing and difficulty, with equipment built for durability and repeated use at national and international events.
“TourGo builds to the standard – not just to the drawing,” a company representative said in the statement. “Our UIPM-compliant obstacle courses give young athletes the same competition experience, whether they are training at home or competing abroad.”
The manufacturer is currently accepting orders for full eight-obstacle competition sets, practice and training packages, and custom configurations on UIPM-standard frames.
TourGo is positioning itself within a growing supply chain for the Olympic movement’s newest discipline. With UIPM continuing to standardize obstacle specifications across all competition levels, manufacturers that meet the federation’s technical requirements are well positioned to serve national federations and event organizers preparing for youth and junior competitions worldwide.
TourGo manufactures a full range of UIPM-compliant obstacle course equipment for U15, U17 and U19 modern pentathlon competitions, including:
- Steps
- Big Wheel
- Over-under-through wall
- Rings
